I wish to commend once more the efforts of the Davao Gulf Management Council in promoting the welfare of the Davao Gulf, a thrust that has also been advocated by the City Government of Davao.

Indeed it is the Davao Gulf Management Council’s good fortune to have come under a dynamic stewardship, as exemplified by its present leaders who share the same orientation and vision of the preservation and conservation of the Davao Gulf.

It is on record that as an expression of support, the City Government of Davao has complemented the directions taken by the council in enlisting the wholehearted cooperation of LGUs and communities along the gulf on the wisdom behind the program.

The publication of the Davao Gulf Framework Plan that defines the guiding principles, strategic interventions and organizational mechanism adopted by the council in pursuing its vision not only make for a good reading material. More importantly, it provides a basis for future research and studies on how one such remarkable display of a sense of community and mutual responsibility may stop total environmental degradation right on its destructive path.
