Last September 2004, the Davao Gulf Management Council, Local Government Units, National-Government Agencies, and Non-Government Organization, successfully conducted the 1st Davao Gulf Environment Summit. Through this Summit, we were able to develop a clear and common perspective of the Davao Gulf including its natural resource stock, threats to its sustainability, various initiatives of stakeholders, opportunities for effective management and unify the various efforts and initiatives within and for Davao Gulf towards sustainable coastal resource management. The major achievement of this Summit though is the formulation of the Davao Gulf Management Framework Plan.

The Framework Plan is the product of the collected effort of the stakeholders of Davao Gulf.. The Framework Plan is the stakeholders’ action to ensure proper management of the Gulf and its Resources. If we look closely, this Framework Plan is formulated by the stakeholders of Davao Gulf for the stakeholders of Davao Gulf.

Thereby, in our effort to achieve an ecologically-balanced Davao Gulf, I have the honor to present the Davao Gulf Management Framework Plan.

It is my hope and the Council that there be a continued support and awareness for Davao Gulf.

Our Gulf is our ecological treasure.
